All About Intestinal Parasites

How to Spot Worms

While there are some instances where you'll be able to see outward symptoms of an infection, you may not recognize illness or see traces of worms until it is too late. Animals that appear to be well and energetic can still shed parasite eggs. Most intestinal parasites can multiply at an alarming rate. This makes even a single worm a fast-growing problem—not only to the pet but also to the environment.

Shockingly, a nationwide study revealed that more than 1 out of 3 untreated dogs were infected by roundworms and/or hookworms and/or whipworms.4 Almost all puppies less than 3 months of age are infected with roundworms. In a survey of veterinarians who treat cats, 43% of respondents reported seeing tapeworms frequently to often and 33% reported the same for roundworm infections.5

If you suspect your pet has worms, please consult with your veterinarian immediately so proper diagnosis and treatment can be initiated.
